Virtual Instruction Terms

  • Fully Remote or Virtual Instructional Model:  Students who are learning at home, participating in both asynchronous and synchronous learning opportunities.

Synchronous Learning:  Synchronous learning happens in real time, in a specific virtual place at a set time. Common methods of synchronous online learning include Google Meets, conferencing, live active and face to face discussion, with interactions and immediate feedback.

Asynchronous Learning:  Online learning without the constraints of having to be online at a certain time.  While the teacher will provide materials for reading, assignments for completing, students can access and satisfy these requirements at their own time, as long as expected deadlines are met. Common methods of asynchronous include, pre-recorded video content, virtual libraries, assigned readings & notes, Nearpod assignments, and other assigned program applications
