    GRADING:

                Your grade will consist of:

                            Tests                                                                            40%

                            Quizzes /Graded Assignments/Projects                       30%

                            Daily Homework/Mastery Checks                                 20%

                            Warm Up Quizzes                                                         10%

Tests: Cumulative tests will be given at the end of each unit.  Tests will be designed to model the Geometry Regents Examination, including “multiple choice” and “show your work” questions.  A midterm will be given in January and will count as two test grades.  Students will be taking a course final in June 2024.

Quizzes/Graded Assignments: Quizzes will be given periodically throughout each unit (at least one per unit).  Projects will be incorporated in units to provide real life application and practice with the skills learned.

Daily Homework/Mastery Checks: You will be assigned homework almost every night.  These homework assignments will be checked for completion and will be graded based on completeness, work shown, and effort as well as accuracy.  Daily homework will be graded on a scale of 0-4.  Late assignments will not be accepted as they are reviewed at the beginning of each class.  These will be graded assignments to monitor students progress.

Warm Up Quizzes: At the beginning of every class we will start with a warm up set. Each day we will repeat similar types of problems and every cycle (typically a Friday) there will be a short 5-minute quiz to review these topics. This is a great way to easily raise your average!

    ABSENCES:

It is the responsibility of the student to show the teacher any missed homework assignments on the day they return.  All notes and videos are on Google classroom and students are expected to copy these notes and come see us if they have any questions.  All quizzes and tests must be made up on the day of return unless the student was absent more than one day.  In this case, see the teacher to determine an acceptable time frame to make up any missed work.

Field Trips:  When class is missed due to a field trip, it is the student’s responsibility to get the work missed prior to the field trip. The work will be checked for completion the first day returning to class.  If the work is not completed, it will be a zero.

    CELL PHONE USE:

Unless otherwise stated, cell phone use is not permitted in class.  This is for your educational benefit!  There will be exceptions, for example, signing up for the REMIND system, asking students to check the portal for grades, or using the phones as substitutes for provided iPads during group activities.  Otherwise, cell phones should be placed in the organization rack upon entry into the classroom.  During test situations, cell phones will have a designated location to be collected before the test, and returned at the end of the period.  Violation of the policy will result in a behavior referral.  Please demonstrate respect!

    EXTRA HELP:

We are available for extra help every single day during planning periods or after school until 2:30 on days without department and faculty meetings (which only happens twice a month!).  If the material seems too difficult or the pace too fast, it is your responsibility to resolve any difficulties with the extra help you seek out.  We will never expect you to work harder than we are willing to work for you.  This class is a partnership between us.

    GOOGLE CLASSROOM:

We utilize Google Classroom for our class.  Within Google Classroom, students will have access to blank notes, copies of completed class notes, video lessons, calendars and timelines for materials.  Students will be connecting and learning how to use Google Classroom during the first week of class.

    eSCHOOL:

We will be updating grades in eSchool on a daily/weekly basis.  Please check often so you are aware of your overall average and any missing homework assignments.

    ACADEMIC DISHONESTY:

If a student is involved in academic dishonesty (cheating, plagiarism, etc.), a zero will be given for that assignment. No make up assignment will be provided, and if there is an opportunity to drop a grade during the marking period, the above-mentioned zero will not be dropped. The next lowest grade will be dropped.  Please refer to the Frontier Central School District’s Code of Conduct, page 11, section G (1-5) for more detailed information.
