FACT SHEET

The Falcon Vault is a student-run bank branch of the Financial Trust Federal Credit Union (merged with Erie Metro Federal Credit Union on September 30, 2019), in partnership with Frontier Central School District. 

The branch is located in the front of Frontier High School, next to the Student Support Office and the Main Office, near Door 2 of the High School.

An ATM is located next to the Frontier Bookstore (near the Cafeteria/Main Gym/Auditorium) in the Door 8 foyer of the High School.

The Falcon Vault is targeted to be open for business for the 2021-2022 school year by October 12, 2021.

Withdrawal fees will be applicable to ATM transactions by noncustomers.

The goal of this partnership is to further the understanding of, and the experience with, real-world money management for our students.

Student bankers are responsible for all aspects of running a bank as well as teaching their peers the importance of budgeting and saving.  With guidance from Financial Trust Federal Credit Union management, the high school bankers are improving readiness for college and future careers for themselves and their peers.

In addition to banking services, the Falcon Vault will be able to sell stamps, movie passes, carwash tickets and other promotional materials.

PROGRAM DETAILS

Offering a limited menu of products designed primarily for student savers, this student-run bank branch will operate five days a week for approximately 5 hours per day (9:30 AM – 2:45 PM), and are managed by Financial Trust Federal Credit Union associates. Branch services are available to students, administrators, teachers and staff of the Frontier Central School District.

Student employees of the Falcon Vault do not have the ability to see customer addresses, contact information or account balances.

Sixteen high school students were selected to staff the in-school branch.  To prepare for their work, all student-bankers are trained to obtain hands-on experience as tellers and customer service representatives.

Student employees are eligible for potential paid hours working in regular branches during summers and holidays, as well as scholarships and other perks.

Students interested in working in the bank branch needed to complete and return an application by Friday October 1, 2021 to Mr. Smaczniak in the South Office. Interviews were conducted the following week. Student employees of the Falcon Vault must be in good standing (academically, behaviorally and attendance-wise).
