• Goals of the Cloverbank Library

There are two goals for the Cloverbank Elementary School Library.   The first goal is to have all our students be life-long readers and learners. The second goal is to have all of our students be responsible and capable researchers of information.

Reading is an integral part of being a life-long learner.  Our students are expected to read 25 books in each school year.
In library, each student is  encouraged to borrow at least one book that is at his or her reading level every week..  Some  time is given during each library period to read.  Students also have reading as a part of their homework each night. In addition, parents are  strongly encouraged to read with their  children nightly. This can be a very special time!  Your child gets to be with you and enjoy something pleasurable. Also, your child is learning that reading is important - you value it!  Also, each child is given a Summer Reading Packet. This packet includes a list  of books that your child may read over the summer.  Reading is for life--not just for the school year!  This is our message at Cloverbank and  we try to communicate the "reading goal" in every way we can.

We also expect and have as our goal, that each student be capable of finding information that they need or want. This includes being able to search  children's  websites  on the internet, use nonfiction and  reference books. It is our goal that each student can locate information, determine appropriateness and relevance and  share information effectively. Students have opportunities to share information  through written reports, posters, dioramas and powerpoint  presentations.
We want to see how effectively they have found information. We want them to show what they have learned!

To summarize,  our goals are "R and R". Reading and loving it;  Researching  to learn and to share!
