• Homework Policy

Each night homework should take approximately 30 minutes to complete. The following is a general outline for daily homework assignments:

    Math
    * A math sheet will go home nightly. This is a review of that day's lesson or fact practice and should take about 5-10 minutes.  It is imperative that math facts are practiced nightly to help the students master each level in Rocket Math.

    Spelling

    • Spelling homework will be given nightly.  Our new reading series handles spelling in a different way than you may be use to.  The children will not necessarily be assigned a new spelling list every week.  The spelling aligns with our phonics lessons.  I will be using the Remind app and the agenda to communicate when new lists are given and when tests will be, therefore you cannot count on a test every Friday.  The website www.spellingcity.com/mmyszka218/ also has each spelling list in order, from the bottom up, in case of any absences.  Your child has been given a "menu" of spelling activities to choose from for homework each night, until the test is given.

    Reading
    * Reading homework is 20 minutes of independent reading nightly.

    * There is no homework assigned on weekends with the exception of studying if there is an upcoming test.

    * I usually give at least one weeks notice for any major Science or Social Studies test and a review guide is provided.
