- Be a Homework Hero!
-
Homework is expected to be completed on a daily basis. If you are unsure of a homework assignment, they are copied daily by the student before they are sent home. Please check your child's agenda and initial that you have seen the assignment and that your child has completed it.
Each Friday, if students have completed all of their homework for the week AND have remained Eligible (have followed all of the MayLEader Laws) they are invited to participate in "Fabulous Friday". Students in Fabulous Friday are invited to play in cooperative groups, work in the Computer Lab, or (weather permitting) play outside. We work with Mrs. Annie Seifert's class and combine our students. It is an exciting time to see other students outside of our classroom!Students that are Ineligible (have NOT followed the MayLEader Laws) or do not have their weekly work completed by Friday, proceed to "Study Hall". They remain in the classroom and complete the owed work and read independently.
* Students are expected to read for at least 30 minutes daily. This duration of reading will help them build reading fluency and comprehension and help them become stronger readers.
* Math homework will be sent home almost daily. These math sheets are a review of the math skills that was taught in that day's lesson and students should be able to complete it on their own. If your child is exhibiting frustration or confusion on the homework, you may try to assist them. However, if your assistance does not clarify the problem, please jot a short note on the assignment and we will work with your child to help them understand the concept.
* Students may also receive Social Studies or Science assignments that support what we are learning in the classroom. They will be able to use their notebooks and folders as a valuable resource.
