Creating America- A History of the United States
The eighth grade curriculum covers U.S. History and Government from the Civil War to modern times.
1. Materials- these items must be brought to class every day.
a. one 3 ring binder 1” minimum with dividers(5 tab dividers)
b. blue or black pen
c. paper
2. Notebooks- Your notebooks will count as 5% of your quarterly grade and will be evaluated at least once per quarter. To receive full credit each page will be lettered and numbered in the top right corner and placed in the proper section. (I will provide a model binder in class for any student that is absent to use as a reference)

B. Unit Guides
C. Worksheets
D. Notes
E. Journal entries
3. Homework- as per school policy
a. Homework is always due on the next school day after it was assigned unless otherwise noted.
b. If you are absent, it is your responsibility to make up any missed work.
c. To receive full credit all work must be completed and handed in on time!!!
d. If you hand in work one day late the most you can receive is ½ credit and on the third day it becomes a zero
4. Textbook- It is your responsibility to keep your textbook covered at all times! Failure to do so could lead to paying for the book
5. Grading
Your grades will be based on the following percentages
a. Tests and Projects - 50%
b. Quizzes - 30%
c. Homework, journals, - 20%
classwork and notebooks
6. Quizzes
Every Friday is quiz day! Unless there is a test scheduled for that day each and every Friday there will be a quiz given on the information covered in class that week. This does not mean quizzes will only be given on Fridays but it does mean that you can expect to be studying every Thursday for the quiz on Friday!!!
