• Hi Families! This is information is regarding steps for Virtual Learning and Snow Days.

A few weeks ago, the district put out a description of Snow Days and Virtual Learning Days.  I wanted to take a moment to make sure we know what will happen for each and how they are different.

Traditional snow days will take place when the weather is awful in the early morning hours of that particular day.  The district will announce the closure by 6 am on the news, radio, district website, etc.  On these days there will be no in-person school and no schoolwork.

Virtual Learning Days could happen when the district is aware that it may be extremely cold or windy 1-2 days in advance.  In these situations, the building closure will be announced the day before BUT it would also be announced to families that there will be virtual learning for the next school day.  On these days students will have some form of school on the computer and schoolwork will be given.  Computers will be sent home with children the day before the building closure.

I also want to talk about Remote Learning. Given that we are still in a pandemic, there remains the possibility that we could go to fully remote learning.  IF this should happen, it’s hard to say exactly how long we could be remote but we need to be prepared regardless.

In order to prepare for both virtual learning and remote learning you will need to know how to log onto your child’s school email account

This information was sent home by your child’s classroom teacher at the beginning of the year and used for parent information night.

    Steps for Traditional Snow Days:

Nothing needs to be done from home.

Steps for participating in Virtual Learning:

1.By 8am on the day of Virtual Learning please log onto your child’s email account and look for an email from me.

2.IF your child is scheduled for therapy on the virtual learning day then you will see an email invitation for a Google Meet from me. The invitation will include the time for therapy.

At your child’s scheduled speech therapy time, open your child’s email again, then open the email invitation again, and click on the “Joining Info” link to join the session.  Therapy will take place over the computer.  The link will look like this:

    1. If you don’t have an email from me, then your child is not scheduled for therapy on that particular  virtual learning day.

    Steps for Remote Learning

    1. As soon as possible, log into your child’s email and accept the invitation to be part of my Google Classroom.
    2. IF the district should ever move to fully remote learning I will send additional directions home at that time.

Please do not hesitate to call should you have any questions.  Thank you for your support!
