The Frontier Central School District honored its athletic history Friday night by inducting four prominent alumni into the district’s Sports Wall of Fame.

The class of 2026 inductees includes Bryan Wittmeyer (Class of 1996), Ryan Kingsland (Class of 1997), AJ Licata (Class of 2014), and Brian Norsen (Class of 2019).

The four men were celebrated during an evening induction banquet and were later recognized on the 50-yard line at halftime during Frontier’s annual homecoming football game.

Throughout the ceremony, a common thread of gratitude connected the inductees. Each of the men took time to thank their parents, highlighting the immense sacrifices, endless hours of travel, and unwavering attendance at games that made their athletic careers possible.

The inductees also credited their former Frontier coaches, describing them as tremendous leaders whose guidance extended far beyond the playing field to help shape the men they are today. Reflecting on their high school careers, the athletes noted that their fondest memories were often not the victories themselves, but the camaraderie built during long bus rides and daily practices with teammates.

Among the honorees was Wittmeyer, a standout two-sport athlete in varsity volleyball and track and field. Wittmeyer’s athletic journey began under the guidance of his father, who served as his first coach and fostered a lifelong love for sports through the shared fandom of the San Francisco Giants, Buffalo Bills, and Buffalo Sabres.

Wittmeyer truly flourished on the volleyball court, where he served as team captain and led Frontier to consecutive Section VI Championships in 1995 and 1996, as well as a New York State Championship in 1995. His individual accolades included first-team All-ECIC and first-team All-WNY honors.

"I was always willing to accept any role, task or responsibility if it was for the benefit of the team," Wittmeyer said, reflecting on his team-first philosophy. "I always worked hard, never gave up, treated coaches, teammates, competitors, and officials with respect, and gave the greatest amount of effort I could."

Kingsland, a versatile multisport standout, competed in volleyball, basketball, baseball, swimming, and track and field. Influenced heavily by his parents, Kingsland excelled on the volleyball court, helping lead the Falcons to three consecutive sectional titles from 1994 to 1996 and a state championship in 1995. He also earned individual honors in baseball as a two-time Jim Baker Defensive Player of the Year.

Kingsland, who went on to be a four-year starter for SUNY Cortland and now works as an elementary physical education teacher and Division I and II collegiate volleyball official, credited the district with building his foundation.

“Frontier Athletics instilled discipline, accountability, and the value of hard work,” Kingsland said, noting that coaches John O’Hara, John Cordier, Jerry Clark, Gary Clark, and Jeff Staruch all pushed him to improve daily.

Licata left his mark as one of the most decorated football players in program history, leading the 2013 team to the sectional championship game. His stellar senior season earned him first-team All-WNY honors, the Shane Conlan Award as WNY's most outstanding linebacker, and the WGRZ Defensive Player of the Year award. Licata was also a captain and defensive MVP for the basketball team.

He later became a two-time All-American linebacker at Alfred University, where he won an Empire 8 Conference Championship during an undefeated 2016 season. Today, Licata works as a territorial manager for MWI Animal Health and resides in Hamburg.

“Being a part of Frontier Athletics taught me how to handle challenges, support others, and push myself to grow on and off the field,” Licata said.

Norsen, a three-sport athlete in volleyball, basketball, and baseball, found early inspiration in his father and older brother. Norsen's dominant spring seasons on the diamond cemented his legacy, setting school records for single-season home runs (6), career hits (85), and career doubles (29). He capped off his high school career as the 2019 WNY High School Baseball Player of the Year, a sectional champion, and the Frontier Falcons Male Athlete of the Year.

Norsen carried that excellence to St. John Fisher University, rewriting the baseball program’s record books while finishing with a .356 career batting average and four conference titles. He now works as an audit associate in Buffalo.

Norsen noted that Frontier and its athletic programming provided him with the opportunity to build lifelong relationships, learn how to work with a team, and overcome challenges and adversity.

"These traits allowed me to grow as a person and athlete," Norsen said.

The 2026 induction class was selected by the Wall of Fame Selection Committee, which includes Joseph Ciesielski, John Cordier, Dr. Mary Ann Costello, Don Heppner, Rebecca Galanti, James Baker, Timothy L. Marong, and Jim Helmicki.
