Bus F

Every school day begins long before the first bell rings. For hundreds of students across the District, the school day starts at their bus stop, waiting for the familiar yellow bus.

Frontier Central School District is currently looking for dependable, community-minded individuals to step into the driver’s seat and join the district’s transportation team.

“Our community counts on us to get our kids to school safely every day, and right now, we’re looking for dependable drivers to join our team,” said Brent Bogardus, Frontier’s Director of Transportation.

For many community members, the idea of operating a large school bus can feel daunting, but the District has structured its hiring process to eliminate those barriers. Frontier provides fully paid Commercial Driver’s License (CDL) training, ensuring that all new hires are certified, skilled and confident before they ever hit the road with students.

Beyond the comprehensive training, the positions offer an attractive financial package designed to compete with regional employers. New drivers are guaranteed seven hours of work per day, complete with a competitive starting wage, an excellent pension plan, and comprehensive benefits. The schedule also offers high flexibility, making it an ideal fit for parents, retirees or anyone looking for a career that balances well with personal life. Furthermore, drivers looking to maximize their earnings have ample opportunities to pick up extra hours by navigating field trips, transporting sports teams to away games, and taking on summer work.

However, if you ask the people already behind the wheel, the true value of the job goes far beyond the paycheck. School bus drivers serve as a critical bridge between the neighborhood and the classroom.

“I’m the very first face these kids see from the District every single morning,” shared veteran Frontier bus driver Pamela Colombo. “A smile and a warm ‘good morning’ can set the entire tone for their day.”

That daily interaction leaves a lasting impression on the students who climb the bus steps each morning.

For those looking for a career change, the combination of robust benefits and community impact makes the role uniquely fulfilling.

As the District prepares for the upcoming months, Bogardus and his entire transportation team are ready to welcome the next generation of drivers to the department.
