The Transportation Department has updated the routing system for our school buses. The new system allows students to use an RFID (Radio Frequency Identification) badge/card to board their school bus.
The badges are custom to each student with their information loaded to the card, such as their address. RFID cards are only going to be issued to the High School and Middle School students.
Using the RFID cards will shorten the bus rides according to the number of riders on the bus. The Traversa tablets and RFID card readers will automatically update the bus location through the MyRidek-12 app. It will also change the school bus number if the bus was changed for the originally routed bus. This is the latest step the District has taken to improve the bus riding experience for all involved.
