Frontier High School Alumnus Joseph A. Donohue III is starring in "A Child's Christmas in Wales" at the Irish Classical Theatre in Buffalo until December 15. The musical is based on a poem by the great Welsh poet Dylan Thomas and is filled with holiday memories of snow and packages, feasting and foolery, friends and family. Donohue plays Jim and performs on the piano during the musical alongside current Frontier sophomore Tyler Eisenmann, who plays a young Dylan Thomas.
In school, he was known as a gifted musician who played the piano, violin and guitar. Now he has dazzled on stage in musical performances like Shea's MusicalFare from 2017 to 2019, where he has he portrayed Jerry Lee Lewis and performed tricks on the piano in "Million Dollar Quartet" as well as the humerous suspects in "Murder for Two."
Donohue is also part of a local indie pop/rock band called The Albrights, in which he plays piano and sings. You can see them at the at Mohawk Place on December 23 for CPXmas. He is also a regular preforming at other area venues with an assortment of artists and ensembles.
